Ballet Shoes Turn Into Boots

Alexandra Harrill found her life’s passion at a young age. Since putting on her first pair of ballet shoes at 8 years old, dance has been her life. But passion comes at a price.

Harrill, 19, struggled with the newfound independence of young adulthood while pursuing her craft and serving at a restaurant. She spent three years with the Exhale Dance Tribe contemporary dance company and taught at another studio.

Ultimately, dance cut into her work schedule, and a choice had to be made.

Harrill chose dance but soon realized that she needed a good job. She admits that she hasn’t always made the best decisions - she’s only 19, after all - but sees welding as a step toward a secure future.
